In this episode of Not an Alien, Antonio tells a short and sweet version of his immigration journey from Spain to the United States. Finding few opportunities, as a young man, in his home region in Spain, he joined his relatives in Switzerland for a time, before securing an immigrant visa to the United States. Full of ambition and energy, he arrived in New York City to make a start for himself. At first, the transition was challenging; he missed soccer culture in Europe, and his first Halloween in the Village was harrowing, but in time, New York has come to feel like home. Now, Antonio is an American citizen, has been bartending at an iconic West Village restaurant for 30 years, and has two American kids (with his wife, who is, herself, an immigrant from Chile) of whom he is extremely proud.
